Week 4 - Boston Bound: Forget Yourself And Go To Work!!

July 2, 2018

Hello everybody!! Long time no talk! So last week i wasn't able to send out an email because we were headed to good ole Boston!! So i just wanted to share a few quick things about week 3, final week in the mtc and then we will get to boston!!

My last week in MTC was a lot better!! We were able to go to the temple one last time which was amazing as always! We then got to hear from the first counselor of the General Relief Society, Sister Eubank and i really like that she talked about going on a mission and just being yourself. Everyone has all these little qwerks, interests, and hobbies that can somehow play into the conversion of someone! i really enjoyed that thought! ANYWAY!!! THEN THE BEST THING HAPPENED!!! so my last week at the MTC was the mission president training so the First presidency and quorum of the 12 were all there and all the new mission presidents!!! we got to meet our new mission pres and that was so neat! Then they had a devotional that night and all 12 apostles showed up for it!!!! THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED!!!! it was so amazing and Elder Cook talked to us, it was just all around a great day! For anyone who was wondering this is what everyone had to say about me, "I've never met a hick that is so classy" apparently i'm a hick to everyone because i like dirt biking and trucks ;) okay guess i can see it lol

Anyway i'm sure most of you don't care about the MTC but wanna see how Boston is!! Flying into Boston i just remember looking out the window and thinking, "forget yourself and go to work." it was a really good feeling. SOOOO In short, BOSTON IS SO SO SO BEAUTIFUL AND SO GREEN!!! I mean it is so pretty here. So the first full day being here, the elders took us down to a train station and we got to go talk to people! We only had 10 minutes but it was so much fun and it got me so hyped to be a missionary! The first gal we talked to, didn't have much interest but then something clicked and she put her phone down and started listening..but then she had to catch the bus so we gave her a BOM! The second guy we talked to was so awesome. We told him about the BOM and he wanted to read it so bad, but he looked at us and said i have no money.. so i cant buy one from you and we told him it was free! He was so happy!! We then told him we had to go but we got his address and number for missionaries in his area to contact him! SUPER FUN!!!

So my first area is Weston. I am about 45 minutes away from down town Boston and in one of the richest cities in the world. I MEAN RICH!!! everyone here drives Audis, BMWs, Mercedes, Porsche, and Teslas! we see them everywhere!! But on the bright side, all the diesels here are powerstrokes, so ya thats pretty cool;) my comp thinks i'm crazy when i talk about trucks haha! Anyway my comp is Sister Okumura, she has been out 13 months! she is such a good missionary and so fun to be around! we don't really have anything in common but we still get along really good!

Thursday I taught my first real lesson!!! We found this guy named Chuck and we taught him and then invited him to come to church and he came!! we are meeting with him again this week:) we then went tracting and i felt like a real missionary!! It poured all day long so the humidity was 96%!! we had sweat dripping down us and we got every door slammed in our face haha but it was good because the next day we went to a more poor area and my comp told me i was going to take lead since i wanted to tract, so i did! we ended up knocking about 5 doors, gave out 5 BOMS and set up a time to come back with 3 of them!! IT WAS AWESOME!!

Last but not least, Saturday was an amazing day! we had a lesson with Denise, and i invited her to be baptized!!! she accepted and we now have her on date for July 28!! I'm so excited for her!! Anyway i'm slowly getting adjusted to the missionary life and its only going to get better! But for now, i hope everyone is doing good! I love you all! cant believe i have already been out 1 month!! its crazy! but just in case anyone gets bored and wants to write a letter or something, here is my new address;) 60 North Main Street #5 Natick MA 01760
KEEP ON KEEPIN ON!!!
