Well the subject line says it all!
Connecticut is starting to get cold (real feel 1°), which means everyone is
getting colds and is sick, and John had to get baptized in the cold water! So
we are all just freezin here in Ashford but feelin 100° on the inside (; Anyway
wow so much happened this week that I have no clue where to begin!
HIGHLIGHTS:
-John finally entered the waters of baptism
and got to make his first covenant! Wow what a special day, he was so happy and
thrilled that it was finally happening! Anyway you know how every baptism has
to have its complications? Yep. It happened! The water heater at the church
broke and unfortunately John had to get baptized in the freezing cold (and
green) water. When we told him that was gonna happen it was funny he said,
"Maybe if you two stand in it till about 1030 am the temperature will go
up to room temperature?" Hahaha anyway after he came out of the water the
first thing he said was "Cold wata on a friggid day" yet he couldn't
wipe that smile off his face <3 Sunday he also received the priesthood and
interviewed for his temple recommend and will be headed to the temple this
Saturday + biggest miracle, our bishop called the mission president and got
permission for us to go with ward on Saturday! Temple trip round 2!
-It's crazy how you can come to love someone
in such a short amount of time. Jonathan and Maria who i talked about last week
we were able to go back and teach them the restoration and afterwards we found
out that he is leaving for 5 years for work for boot camp trainings.. and she
is moving to Florida and it was so hard saying goodbye, yet we just met them!!
I love them. We will miss teaching them :( he did say he will take the Book of
Mormon with him and it reminds me of the video "Dare to Stand Alone"
that will be Jonathan!!
- We are still teaching Kristie and we
received this text from her yesterday, "OMG. I've been reading the Book Of
Mormon. I'm so intrigued." Which is the best thing you can hear from
someone you are teaching!!
-fun fact: went and visited someone we
started teaching a while back in the mental hospital this week, he called us
randomly after about 2 months and asked us to come visit him. We decided we had
nothing to lose and went, yep he is a little crazy but I can officially say I
have taught someone in a mental hospital!! Lol
EXCHANGES:
I love going on exchanges with the other
Sisters and being able to work hard with them and build so many great
friendships, it is such a privilege and blessing. We saw many miracles and i jst
wanted to share some prime examples that the Lord knows exactly what he is
doing!
-The first, we were walking to an appointment
and there was a man on the street working on his car and we decided to stop and
talk to him, turns out his girlfriend was going through a hard time and was
interested in learning more! She came out and we got to pray with her, testify
of the Book of Mormon and set up a return appointment. Had it not been for that
exact moment we were there walking down the street we never would have been led
and guided to them.
-We put some potential people we wanted to
stop by and the order we wanted to but our GPS took us a really weird way and I
said hey "I'm not gonna question it! The Lord has a purpose behind
everyhting" well he did! We met Nina about the 4th door we knocked on and
she let us right in and she still had the Book of Mormon sitting right there on
her table!! If the GPS wouldn't have taken us the wrong way we never would have
met her that day because we then had to leave to get to a blessing. GOD IS
GOOD!!
Oh might I add, our water heater went out
this week too, we walked in our kitchen and it was flooded, along with our back
room.. it was a disaster! But we got er all fixed up and she's rockin and
Rollin. Anyway man there is NOOOO greater work than this. What an incredible
week <3
SPIRITUAL:
I read Helaman this past week and there is so
many wars going on but there was a specific verse that stuck out to me in
chapter 12: 3
"And thus we see that except the Lord
doth chasten his people with many afflictions, yea, except he doth visit them
with death and with terror, and with famine and with all manner of pestilence,
they will not remember him."
Isn't it sad that we remember God most in the
times of our life when we are struggling and going through something hard? This
week I challenge you to rely on the God at all times, wether it be good or bad
because he is ALWAYS there.
